No reason

All right, all right. I know everybody who's always clamoring for pictures of "the baby" are a little annoyed at this point. But let's be honest, cute as she is, you've already seen photographic evidence of Abbey's abilities ... she sleeps, she blinks and she kinda-sorta smiles.

But plants, they're always doing something cool. Trouble is, I'm always too busy obsessing over "what I'm gonna do next" to notice. So consider this cathartic for me ... the poor dude who did all the planting. More Abbey pictures soon to follow.

Oh, no story behind these shots. Just liked the way it looked.

Sumer Wonder

And no, the title isn't necessarily praise for my lovely wife ... What am I saying, of course it is. But the name of the cool little crabtree, is in fact Summer Wonder, and is a hybrid grown by a man in Alabama. Supposedly disease resistant, but I'm taking the word of the dude who sold it to me (no reason not to), because all I could find out was it's patten - it's that new.

But this tree is especially special because my Granny bought it in honor of Abbey's birth. Course, it was I who dug the hole and my Master Gardener buddy who told me where to dig said hole.

more stories about trees

These two pictures are very special to the Buckners as a whole (OK, so I'm speaking for Sarah, but in years to come, she too will appreciate all the hard yard work her step-father has done in the name of beauty).

This a weeping cherry tree. It was our first family tree purchase. The sad part was that for some reason we thought it would fit in the civic ... not so much. Instead we had to wait for 20 minutes as a buddy from J'ville with a truck came and gave it a lift ... cool, huh?

Statues come alive

They may look creepy during the dark days of winter, but no garden geek's yard is complete with the smattering of statues and stuff.

just a little sampling

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the flowers of our lives. And to think, these came back from last year ... I didn't even have to steal the credit card. That'll come later.

Little bit of color

It's just nice, after months of cold gray days, to finally have some color in our lives ... outside that is. Inside the house, there's no lack of vivid entertainment.

There's nothing more majestic that the bare branches of trees ... especially to those who had to rake all the dang things up.
